OH SO EXCITING!!!!
Thank you all so very much for sending the love my way on facebook when I announced that “I HAVE A JOB!” Oh, God is SO good! I’m just basking in His faithfulness right now. What was it my roommate Ne’Ne used to say? Oh yeah!
“I just want to lie in the sun and think about being blessed.” So, today I went out to have my lunch break in the sunshine and I thought about how blessed I am. Now I can tell you!!!
Here’s the story:
Ya’ll probably know that I’ve been working at a local bakery for the past six months. I had the best coworkers and the best manager I could have ever asked for. I don’t think I will have such amazing coworkers anywhere else. The job, however, was kind of a bear. Actually it was a big bear that didn’t pay much at all, and I had a paltry social life because my hours were never regular. Then there were a few incidents where I showed up to work at 6am, and…the espresso machine had flooded the floor, or there were no pastries to sell, or the baker was vomiting in the bathroom and had no clothes on. You know, normal stuff…NOT! Time to find a new job for this college grad.
Two Thursdays ago, I received a call from a staffing agency I had applied to in November. They said they had a job for me at a hospital fifteen minutes from my home, and I need to quit the bakery because they were going to start me in a week. I gave my notice that day, and got ready to start my new job in a week’s time. Yahoo!!! This was an answer to prayer!
Days went by, I heard nothing. I called the agency, and they said to be patient (yeah right). They would call me when they needed me. So I waited and waited and finally called to check in. That’s when they broke the news to me. The job hadn’t been confirmed yet. They had told me to quit my job without confirming my new position. I was floored but just trusted that God knew what He was doing…even if the agency didn’t. Then this Thursday, the day I was supposed to start my new job, I called the agency only to hear that the confirmation wouldn’t go through. I was unemployed.
After the tears, I emailed another agency (hereafter referred to as “the good agency”) that I had interviewed with, and they called me back within ten minutes saying they were so sorry this happened to me. They were going to start looking immediately, and would let me know ASAP. The rest of Thursday was emotional, and I was just dazed.
Friday morning, ten minutes after I woke up the good agency called to say “YOU HAVE A JOB! And you start on Monday making almost double what you were making at the bakery, and your hours are regular!” How’s that for a run-on sentence full of goodness?!
Yesterday was my first day as the Administrative Assistant for my state’s nurse’s union. I should mention that this is a temporary job. I was brought on board to assist the department as they prepare for a massive conference coming up, so my job lasts until June 1. After that, they can keep me, or the good agency will just have to find me something else. Either way, I’m grateful. The office is bright, my desk area is HUGE, and there are flowers and gardens everywhere. Seriously, there are dripping cherry blossom trees all over the place. The ladies I work with are all sweet, and the work is easy…just secretarial stuff and maybe some copy editing.
So thank you again for all your prayers, your love, your encouragement, and just for being you. Love you guys <3 God bless….’cause He does ;)
Well done on getting the job :D
